In the second quarter of 2024, South Africa's top carpooling and ridesharing apps on the Android platform experienced diverse trends in weekly downloads and active users, as revealed by Sensor Tower data.

Bolt: Request a Ride saw a notable fluctuation in weekly downloads, starting strong with 75.7K in early April and then dipping to 34.8K by mid-May. However, it rebounded to 52K by the end of June. Active users showed a similar pattern, starting at 598.6K, dropping to 496.8K mid-quarter, and rising again to 574.7K by the end of June.

inDrive. Save on city rides had a steady increase in downloads, beginning at 27.3K in April and peaking at 30.5K in the final week of June. Active users fluctuated, starting at 198.5K, dipping to 164.4K mid-quarter, and ending strong at 212K.

Uber - Request a ride exhibited a consistent download pattern, with a low of 14.4K in mid-April and a peak of 26.3K in late June. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 342.8K and closing the quarter at 322K.

Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver maintained a steady download rate, with numbers ranging from 3.6K to 4.8K throughout the quarter. Active users also showed stability, hovering around 33K to 34.8K.

Uber Lite experienced a consistent download rate, starting at 2.3K and ending at 1.7K. Active users remained stable, starting at 40.6K and ending at 40K.
